Raw torque rules when you're powering up, over and through rugged all-terrain conditions. And the 2021 Ford Ranger features the only gas turbo engine in its class, the class-exclusive advanced 2.3L EcoBoost®. Pair it with the class-exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission and the Ranger blows other gas-powered pickups in its class out of the water with the best gas torque in its class at 310 lb.-ft.* The 270 horsepower under the hood is mighty impressive too. The 2.3L EcoBoost® is also engineered with a twin-scroll turbocharger that extracts exhaust gas from pairs of cylinders in alternating sequence, maximizing pulse energy to the turbine wheel for responsiveness on demand with virtually no lag.
You carry gear — and lots of it. That's why the 2021 Ranger delivers a best-in-class maximum 1,860-lb. payload and an impressive 7,500-lb. tow rating.* We made it strong, powerful and tough enough to help move you out confidently on your next adventure.
The class-exclusive* 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission, featuring Ford-patented technology, optimizes gear progressions and delivers smooth, quick-shifting up and down the gearbox. Features include wide-span gear spacing coupled with drag-reduction actions plus three overdrive gears. Pairing SelectShift technology with the dynamic 2.3L EcoBoost® engine makes the 2021 Ford Ranger tough, capable and ready for fun.
The available Terrain Management System™ (included in both the FX4 and Tremor Off-Road Packages) has four selectable drive modes to help you navigate the toughest terrain. Choose Normal, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Ruts or Sand. The system is designed to provide optimum traction, driveability and performance.
Available Trail Control™ (included in both the available FX4 and Tremor Off-Road Packages) is a driver-activated cruise control system that helps you navigate more easily on rough ground, so you can focus all your attention on the thrill of steering over more demanding terrain.
When activated, the available electronic-locking rear differential locks the axle completely at both wheels simultaneously, delivering the traction you need off-road when you need it the most. Available as a separate option or included in the Tremor, FX4 and FX2 Off-Road Packages.
Shifting into four-wheel drive is as easy as turning a dial with the electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) system. ESOF lets you choose two four-wheel-drive modes (4x4 high or low), as well as two-wheel drive for travel on dry paved surfaces.
The 2021 Ford Ranger has a double A-arm independent front suspension engineered for agility and control over rugged off-road terrain. The shock absorbers are the monotube type designed for fade resistance and heat dissipation. They're also nitrogen gas-pressurized for shock-damping consistency over sustained rough road conditions.
Make your 2021 Ford Ranger the ultimate off-road vehicle with the all-new available Tremor Off-Road package.* The Tremor Off-Road package includes new magnetic-painted alloy wheels, new skid plate, modified off-road suspension, and new front and rear tow hooks, as well as adding off-road hoop-step style running boards and six new upfitter switches. Tremor also includes a unique front grille with red nostril inserts, and offers an optional painted graphics package for an extra flourish of style. Finally, for added confidence, Tremor includes Trail Control™ and the Terrain Management System™ to ensure you feel in command wherever your off-road adventures may take you.
The Ranger features a wide variety of available packages designed to fit the needs of your next adventure, whether that means increased performance, off-road capability or head-turning exterior design. Black Appearance Package pictured above.
Great design conveys more than just a vehicle's appearance. It says just as much about a vehicle's capability. From its dynamic twin power dome hood and wide grille to its rounded wheel arches and high ground clearance, the Ford Ranger says this is a pickup engineered for solid all-terrain performance. And with available packages like the all-new Tremor or FX4 Off-Road packages and a plethora of available accessories to outfit your Ranger with, you can enjoy the road in style wherever your next adventure takes you.
The available FX4 Off-Road Package is ready to meet rough terrain with included tuned off-road monotube shocks, all-terrain tires with aggressive tread and a heavy-duty front bash plate. The FX4 Off-Road Package also includes skid plates for the electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) electronic motor, transfer case and fuel tank. Looks meet performance with the available FX2 package, which includes FX2 bodyside decals, standard 17-inch Off-Road OWL tires and available 18-inch off-road OWL tires. Both packages include a traction-enhacing electronic-locking rear differential, plus an off-road suspension. And inside, a cluster screen provides feedback on pitch and roll plus steering angle.
The athletic shape of the 2021 Ford Ranger shows a masterful blend of style and function. The twin power dome hood has more than just strong visual performance. It works with the low-angled windshield to channel air efficiently over the roof and reduce wind noise. The wide grille opening and rounded wheel arches are aerodynamically functional as well. And high approach, break-over and departure angles enhance all-terrain capability for climbing hills and clearing obstacles.
Accessories let you dress up for style and outfit for adventure, with carriers and racks for transporting gear like trail bikes, kayaks, off-road lights, pickup bed tents, protective bed liners and a whole lot more. They're all available to personalize your Ford Ranger to your particular style.
From basic to bold, Ranger offers an attractive selection of standard and optional wheels to suit your ride style. Shown above, from left to right:
The foundation of outstanding off-road capability is strength. That's why Ford engineers made the backbone of the 2021 Ranger a fully boxed, high-strength steel frame with six crossmembers — plus frame-mounted steel bumpers and tow hooks (included in 4x4 Ranger models and in the FX2 Package) for ruggedness and durability.

Versatility is a big reason people drive pickup trucks. And Ford Ranger offers two ways to go. The SuperCab provides seating for two upfront with bucket seats and two in the rear with the bench seat, which includes under-seat storage. If you want the space behind the front seats only for carrying gear, you can have the rear seat removed in the XL model. And there's the more spacious and comfortable Ranger SuperCrew® with the conveniences of four full-size doors, seating for up to five, and rear under-seat storage. The SuperCab comes with a 6-ft. bed, the SuperCrew with a 5-ft. bed. Ranger SuperCrew® pictured above.

Ford engineers set a grueling test regimen to prepare the new Ford Ranger for the demands of all-terrain travel. Durability trials on roads so punishing that robots were called in to do the driving. Days of constant shaking in the lab to help identify and reduce squeaks and rattles and tune suspension parts and body mounts for durability and performance. Towing heavy loads over hours up steep grades at 100 degrees Fahrenheit. And traveling under heart-pounding, bone-jarring off-road conditions. The 2021 Ford Ranger. It's more than up to the challenge of taking on your toughest test.
